TO ALL MY ETHICAL PEEPS...
Here's a simple question for you to respond to. Read it well and ponder on it carefully before you write your responses below. Make sure you have done this before entering my class on Thursday, 01 April 2010...
Here's a simple question for you to respond to. Read it well and ponder on it carefully before you write your responses below. Make sure you have done this before entering my class on Thursday, 01 April 2010...
"Relate the theory of Ethical Egoism to Kohlberg’s and Gilligan’s stage theories of Moral Development. Why might Ethical Egoism be an appropriate stage for young children but not for college students and adults? Furthermore, why might Ethical Egoists be attracted to self-sacrificing people of Gilligan’s Conventional Stage? "
Explain your response well since this is worth 25 points in your homework marking. CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY ETHICAL PEEPS...
GHONG XI FAH CHAI...HONG PAO NA LAI?! XIN NIEN KUAI LE!!!
Here are your Chinese New Year Break Homework/Assignments...!
FIRST...work on your Community Service Profiles just like I told you to do so. As soon as we get back from the break, I will be expecting a report on an A4/F12/DS/TNR regarding your CS Profile which should at least be more than just five pages long. It is important that you present well the background of the org you chose and the background of the project you are undertaking. I need to know your contact personnel from the site and what your accomplishments are so far. Furthermore, a schedule of your visitation sessions, including one where all of us will be going together as a class during one of the weekends, should be in your report---check your school calendar to make sure you do not conflict your activity with a school event. On EDLINE, I will post the the schedule tracking sheet which you must print out and carry with you a copy everytime you go to the site to do your Community Service. Your contact personnel in the area should fill out the form everytime you go and you should turn that in to me when we meet in class. E-mail me (valente@tcis.ac.th) questions if you have any pertaining to this...!
SECOND...over the break, find a good relevant movie that deals with or gives a good representation of the concepts of Conscience and Moral Development. It has to be a rated PG movie that is appealing to people of all ages. It does not have to be in English, as long as it carries ideas that examine the ethical values and morality of man. Have a copy of the movie for me/us to watch in class and make sure it has correct subtitles if it is not an English film. Furthermore, on an A4/F12/DS/TNR, write an analysis/reflection paper on why you chose the movie and how you think it is related to our topic on Chapter Six or any other chapter we have taken up. I want this in first day we get back from the CNYB...!
THIRD...reread Chapter 6 very well if there is a need for you to do so; jot down at least five (5) questions in your notebook you might have on the chapter that you want clarified and we can discuss when we get back from the break. We are done until page 193, so your questions should pertain from the topic Affective and Cognitive Sides of Conscience until the end of the chapter...!
LASTLY...on an A4/F12/DS/TNR, write me an essay type reflection on "How Relevant Has Citizenship & Ethics Class Been To Me". Make sure to write more than a page long and try to explain what advantages and disadvantages you have encountered being a part of the class. I will also collect this the first day back from the break...!
That's All Folks! Finish all your homework/assignments immediately so you can enjoy your break more...do not procrastinate and leave it off to the weekend before school starts. Take care and be safe always if ever you are going out of town or out of the country...be ready to Rock-N-Roll as soon as we get back...and of course...enjoy your vacation! Be good and study well...CIAO!!!

Please respond to the following in relation to our recent movie "The Kite Runner". Copy the question and answer on A4/F12/DS/TNR. No less than a page long please. Thank you.
Amir’s confrontation with Assef in Wazir Akar Khan marks an important turning point in the story. Why does the author have Amir, Assef, and Sohrab all come together in this way? What is the significance of the scar that Amir develops as a result of the confrontation? Why is this important in Amir’s journey toward forgiveness and acceptance?
That's All Folks!!! Think in terms of what we discussed in class and what we came up with in relation to the moral and ethical issues presented within the story. I want this in to me on Monday, 25 January 2010...CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY ETHICAL PEEPS...
MY BAD! Once again...I forgot to post this sooner. Anyways, you do know what I want you to respond to so I'll make this brief. You simply have to "try" to explain why you think that even if ALL of us know the right ingredients and factors necessary in living a harmonious and peaceful tranquil life, it still seems so difficult for us to do so. Yet when it comes to going against all those factors, we do it easily without a blink of an eye. How come?! Does this therefore really mean that "humans are born naturally evil"???
Respond to this clearly and completely. See you all Monday...stay safe and be ethical...CIAO!!!

TO ALL MY ETHICAL PEEPS...
GREETINGS!
Give two events from the movie Mississippi Burning that mark the turning points in the story. What two instances clearly show us the existence of Cultural Relativism in its purest form and the realization of Alan Ward that the “feds” were up against something much more than just a simple crime? What changes do these events cause in Ward and Anderson? Why did the people of Jessup County condone such atrocities and violence towards the African Americans? Furthermore, which aspect of Cultural Relativism justifies or supports such behavior and attitude towards fellow human beings and what do you think made them blind to the fact that they were promoting injustice?
Answer the question here on this blog...and remember, do not simply copy what someone has already written...I WANT YOU TO THINK FOR YOURSELF...!
Have a GREAT three-day weekend...CIAO!!!
